Job Description

Tech Consultant – Digital Platform Architecture & MVP Development
We are seeking a Tech Consultant - Digital Platform Architecture & MVP Development

Type: Fixed-term consultancy, 12 months
Location: Remote

Position Description
Scope Impact is developing CHART (Climate x Health Adaptation and Resilience Tool), a digital platform designed to support evidence-based decision-making for climate adaptation to improve health outcomes. CHART integrates climate and health data, vulnerability assessments, and solution pathways into a lightweight, scalable “data-to-action” tool, co-designed with partners in Kenya and India using human-centered design and agile methodologies.
The current phase of work focuses on delivering a minimum viable product (MVP) while laying a strong technical foundation for interoperability, local adaptation, and future AI-enabled capabilities. Scope is engaging a Tech Consultant to support solution architecture, integrations, and agile MVP development, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team and external technical partners.
CHART is being developed as a Digital Public Good, with the intention of open-sourcing core components. The Tech Consultant will help establish technical foundations and governance practices that support community contribution and long-term sustainability beyond Scope’s direct involvement.

Areas of Responsibility
Solution architecture
  • Define the overall CHART technical architecture, clearly distinguishing between: core platform functionalities, modular components (e.g. country specific APIs, integrations) and hackable or extensible elements that enable local customization and innovation.
  • Ensure the architecture supports scalability, interoperability, and future AI-driven capabilities.
  • Document architectural decisions and trade-offs to support knowledge transfer and long-term maintenance.
Integrations & interoperability
  • In collaboration with local partners in Kenya and India, map existing health, climate, and related information systems.
  • Define interoperability requirements, standards, and data flows to enable seamless integration with CHART.
  • Support the design and implementation of APIs and integration workflows that align with country contexts while maintaining a common core platform.
Agile MVP development
  • Support the delivery of a lightweight MVP through iterative sprints, in close collaboration with product, design, and analytics teams.
  • Contribute to the development of a “data-to-action” platform that integrates:
climate and health analytics, vulnerability assessments, a solution or intervention database, and decision-support outputs and recommendations.
  • Ensure rapid testing, iteration, and refinement based on user and stakeholder feedback.
  • Advise on future CHART technology needs, and provide recommendations that balance ambition with feasibility for MVP development.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in digital platform architecture and MVP development, preferably in data-intensive or decision-support systems
  • Strong understanding of APIs, interoperability standards, and modular system design
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in agile, iterative development environments
  • Experience working remotely with multi-disciplinary teams and external technical partners, using collaboration tools such as Miro and Figma
  • Experience or interest in working with generative AI tools or agents
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in health, climate, or environmental data systems
  • Exposure to AI / machine learning–enabled analytics
  • Experience working in or with low- and middle-income country contexts
  • Knowledge of open-source tools and data standards

Scope Impact is a social impact company founded in 2008 in Helsinki, Finland. Our mission is to promote and protect health in an unstable and changing climate.

We are guided by the principle that everyone has the right to live a healthy, dignified and fulfilling life.

We deliver on our mission by designing and scaling new climate resilient and community-based health solutions. Our team builds evidence-based, scalable services and products that are people-centric and system-integrated. In doing so, we employ a system innovation approach:

  • Social innovation to research, co-design, prototype, micro-trial, and implement new products and services
  • Strategic engagement to generate community demand, shift behaviours, and create enabling policy environments
  • Organisational change to co-create change strategies among key system actors, embed new skills, and build adaptive pathways to implementation across diverse contexts
By combining scientific evidence and system thinking with lived experience, we design the most appropriate interventions. The human-centred design-based co-creation process roots solutions in local ownership and leadership. Across all our work, we monitor and evaluate impact and outcomes to learn, improve, and ensure that our solutions benefit both the people we serve and our planet.

In addition to our highly skilled interdisciplinary team, we bring together a global community of over 400 health partners. This unique community enables us to operate at a global level while delivering programmes locally in partnership with communities, technical specialists, delivery organisations, and system actors.
